Now is the time to change the electoral system: Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri addresses mammoth public rally in Rawalpindi Shaykh-ul-Islam said that he was urging people to rise against electoral system out of his national and religious duty and not at the behest of someone else. He said that the current system had snatched people’s livelihood, their sovereignty, their integrity and paralysed them. He categorically stated that real change was not possible through current electoral system. He said that the system was geared towards protecting the interests of the ruling elite with nothing to offer to the poor masses. He said that the system had kept 180 million people shackled.

Raise your voice against anti-people and exploitative system According to Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri, if ten million people out of 170 million awaken their consciousness and stand up against the present exploitative, cruel, dishonest and elitist system and launch their peaceful and democratic struggle, none can stop the change from happening. Today, we do not have a system worth its name in the country with the result that the country suffers from the worst leadership deficit. The system, which is being protected, is structured along corrupt and undemocratic lines. It is instrumental in protecting the interests of the vested interests.

Shaykh-ul-Islam calls for change in the system - Workers Convention 2011 Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri has directed the workers of Minhaj-ul-Quran International and Pakistan Awami Tehreek to launch mass contact campaign to bring about change in the system and make ten million people members of MQI. He said that the present system, which has been geared to protect the interests of the 3% of the elite to the detriment of 97% people, is exploitative, anti-democratic and anti-people.
