Qadri for reforms in seminaries system

LAHORE: Pakistan Awami Tehrik chief Tahir-ul-Qadri has demanded reforms in seminaries system, unified syllabus and ban on their foreign funding. Addressing a press conference from the US via video link Saturday, he presented a 14-point agenda for eliminating terrorism, which included tough punishments through legislation for all those who support the Taliban.

Besides, he demanded setting up of special military courts deciding cases within one week, bringing under direct control of army all the departments working against terrorism including courts, semi-government forces and secret agencies. He said budget of army should be increased so that it can fight this ‘war on terror’ with full force.

He demanded that simple ban on an organization is not enough and its offices be sealed and all property be confiscated and exemplary punishment be awarded to the members. He demanded that curriculum in schools and colleges should include such literature that serves as a peace symbol and teaches the students to beware of terrorism.

He also demanded setting up peace Education Centers for creating awareness among public on measures to eliminate religious extremism and how to stay away from extremists who use the simple public for their own nefarious designs.
