Proposed revolution will be within constitutional domain: Qadri

LAHORE: PAT chief Dr Tahirul Qadri has reiterated that his proposed revolution would be peaceful, democratic and within the constitutional boundaries.

Talking to media Wednesday, he said revolution would be peaceful and after the revolution had come the first thing to be done would be to implement the preamble of the constitution of Pakistan and the first 40 articles in letter and spirit.

He said revolution would be followed by a ruthless and across the board accountability process. He said those calling his proposed revolution unconstitutional had been living their lives in violation of the constitution of Pakistan.

Referring to the preamble of the constitution and Article 5, Qadri said those articles said the power belongs to the people of Pakistan and they transferred it to their elected representatives as a sacred trust. But, he said, the rulers had been committing worst dishonesty and plundering of this sacred trust of the people, therefore, this social contract between the rulers and the people had been practically revoked.

He said now a new social contract was needed between rulers and people that would be implemented after the revolution and it would transfer the people’s power to them in practical terms.
