Top 500 families thriving on state resources: Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri

PAT Chairman Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri has said that if the Quetta Commission report can be issued contrary to wishes of the government, why not the Model Town Commission report? He said that the protest of January 27 was for the sake of justice in which the people belonging to all walks of life including the party workers had full participation.

Dr Qadri said that Qisas of martyrs of Model Town is as important to us as life and death and there is no way we are going to budge an inch from this demand. He said that our main accused are not lowly police officials but the top office holders of the government, adding that the police has only played the role of an instrument. He expressed his surprise at the fact that Nawaz Sharif, who has a thinking of a local leader of union council level, is running the country of 190 million. He said that late Mian Sharif did not want to include him in the business, for he said that his son did not have the business acumen.

The PAT Chairman said that we have no objection to location of the business whether inside or abroad. The key question to ask is related to the money trail responsible for setting up such business ventures. He said that law, justice and accountability has been on trial in the country. Otherwise, all are together in fleecing the country, adding that this system of corruption is being protected through joint efforts. He said that if a survey of 500 top families is undertaken, they will appear to be relatives of one another. He said that the cake has been cut into various pieces on which every powerful family is feeding itself.

Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri said that politics has become a business and those spending billions on it know the art of converting them into trillions. He said that if 15-20 speeches that the Prime Minister have delivered on the occasions of inauguration of roads, buildings and metro buses are carefully analyzed, his ‘vision’ will come to the fore. He said that the experienced hands do not need ‘chits containing talking points’ to interact with the foreign heads. He said that Mian Sharif would send Nawaz Sharif to mark his presence in the office located at Empress Road but he was not allowed to sit there. He said that it is a matter of great surprise as to how a person of such intellect is playing with the destiny of the nation.

Dr Qadri said that Panama leaks case is being heard by the honorable Supreme Court and he would not comment on the proceedings. He, however, added in the same breath that the people have high expectations from the apex court of the country. He said that corruption is our national malaise and all corrupt irrespective of their party affiliation protect each other. He said that whosoever has an offshore company should be audited.
