PAT CEC condemns statements against Pakistan Army

The emergency meeting of PAT Central Working Council was held here at the party’s central secretariat with PAT President Dr Raheeq Ahmad Abbasi in the chair. Strongly condemning the anti-army statements, the meeting prayed for the success of ongoing military operation against terrorists and paid rich tributes to the officers and jawans of the armed forces who are taking part in the operation.

The meeting also decided to publish a white paper on May 11on the two-year performance of the federal government. The matters relating to local government elections in KPK and Gilgit-Baltistan also came under discussion. The CWC approved the agenda for the meeting of the federal council on May 3. A resolution was passed on the occasion which condemned increase in price hike, load-shedding, target killing, and poor law and order situation in the country. It was demanded of the government that duration of load-shedding should be decreased and the masses’ security of life and property should be ensured.

Addressing the meeting, PAT President Dr Raheeq Abbasi said that the rulers are a hurdle in the fair investigation into the Model Town tragedy. They are not allowing the release of the judicial commission report and the vindictive actions of the government that started on June 17 last year continue to date. More than 1200 workers are undergoing trial in various courts of the country, he added. Dr Abbasi condemned the vindictive actions and said that the whole PAT leadership, workers and families of the Model Town victims are agreed on their demand for ‘Qisas’.

PAT Secretary General Khurram Nawaz Gandapur, through a resolution, demanded of the government to withdraw imposition of regulatory duty on the POL products and announce a reduction of Rs. 10 per liter in prices of POL products.

The meeting prayed for early recovery and good health of Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri and decided to undertake reorganization of PAT throughout the country. Another resolution approved on the occasion asked the Punjab government to separate the wheat procurement from the politics of its party and distribute ‘bardana’ among the farmers solely on the basis of merit. It further asked the government to put an end to corruption and abuse of powers by the officials of the food department in addition to increasing the target of purchase of wheat for one million ton. The PASCO should also increase the purchase target by two million tons.

Besides Dr Raheeq Abbasi, Khurram Nawaz Gandapur, Zahid Fayyaz, Muhammad Hanif Chaudhry, Qazi Faiz-ul-Islam, Khan Abdul Qayyum Khan, Basharat Jaspal, Haji Muhammad Aslam, Fayyaz Warraich, Brig. (r ) Mushtaq, Rana Idrees, Raja Zahid, Ahmad Nawaz Anjum, Jawad Hamid, Syed Amjad Ali Shah, Farah Naz, Razia Naveed, Ayesha Shabbir, Mushtaq Nonari Advocate, Shoaib Tahir, Irfan Yousaf, Rafique Najam, Tayyab Zia, Ghulam Murtaza Alvi, Raja Waqas and others attended the meeting.
